Hi Team. We’ve finally nailed the ability to send emails to your subscribers through campaignmonitor.com all from within your WordPress website. Assuming it works then this is the latest breakathrough in campaignmonitor.com + wordpress + wp e-commerce plugin integration.
Internally at HQ we have renamed the Plugin to Campaign Trail to avoid any additonal confusion between campaign monitor and the campaign monitor Plugin made by Instinct – Campaign Trail comes from the Hunter S Thompson (gonzo) book Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail.
Who should use this Plugin?
- Anybody that wants a subscription management / email system for WordPress sites
- Anybody that loves campaignmonitor.com
- Anybody that can’t be assed running an email server (thats me and most of you)
- Anybody that uses the WP e-Commerce Plugin that wants to manage email campaigns with their customers
CampaignMonitor charge you a nominal fee to send emails but it is not expensive. And in the long run it is a lot cheaper then running and maintaining an email server. Trust me.

When you install the Plugin please ensure that the templates folder is writable by your webserver – if you don’t know what this means you shouldnt be using this Plugin ;)
This version of the Plugin is a Beta release. So give it a shot and let us know what happens. Whatever you report here will be acted upon by our developers as quickly as possible.

Mailchimp is another Email marketing software. When I contacted Campaign Monitor in order to find one that supports multi language, they we’re kind enough to refer me there.
The pricing system is also “quite” different in that it offers free services for accounts with less then 500 subscribers and less then 3000 emails per month.

I personally like there service, even tough I’m still on the lookout for multilingual admin panel Email marketing software (lengthy!).
Mail Chimp is not only about the price. It has really awesome tracking and reporting capabilities to work with. And most importantly Mail Chimp is more fun to work with than any other email software!
Dan, I suggest you consider Mail Chimp’s E-commerce 360 (Link). We’re using it with Zen Cart and we just love it!

Also with MailChimp. What I do currently is use WP E-Commerce and then whoever pays for a subscription is added to my MailChimp campaigns using PayPal PIN. But something integrated to truly manage the subscriber would be cool.
MailChimp is for the cheaper, smaller scale web communities. Unlimited sends, flat fees. Awesome service.
Does this allow me to send discount codes to customers immediately? What I mean is that the user fills out a form with their email, and an email is automatically sent with a generated discount code. Or does this capability already exist with wp e-commerce?

Thanks for the plug-in. Just gave it a try but can’t find the sending feature. Basically I see the lists, syncs fine, but can’t find any way to send emails from WP. Did I make something wrong ?
After some tests, I found a bug in a loop within a function preventing CM templates from being displayed within WP, with WP 2.9. Here is the working correct code :

Hey – thanks for the plugin – but I am getting an error of:
Fatal error: Class ‘CampaignMonitor’ not found in /customers/promozip.com/promozip.com/httpd.www/wp-content/plugins/communications/cmMain.php on line 117
Upon trying to import contacts, I think this is having an affect on the ability to create new lists too… as no lists are available to be selected.
Templates are coming through fine though…
Hey Dan, any news on when this plugin is going to be available officially. The one that I downloaded (Version 0.1) gives me all sorts of headaches. The guys from CampaignMonitor say it should be Version 1.1 ???
