WP e-Commerce Mini Update

I’m pleased to announce a minor WP e-Commerce update – this release includes the following fixes and features:

  • Theme engine for Categories / Groups and we have added Grid View for listing Categories, you can see what we’ve done in the category_widget.php file contained in your themes folder. This is a loop, it uses template tags and is fairly similar to the all other WordPress loops.
  • Variations stock fix
  • Slashes added before dollar signs when using the category shortcodes removed
  • Intense debate code fixed
  • We have added some code that uses files from the old themes directory if they are not present in the new themes directory. This is a small random fix but it should help quite a few people out .
  • mail linebreak fixes for windows servers
  • Fixes for images on servers using HTTPS
  • A new field under settings > admin for adding additional email fields making

Stay tuned for the next major release which will include more of the goodies discussed in the 3.7.2 feature prioritization blog post. The next major release will likely be 3.7.3 or 3.7.4 or 3.7.5 depending on how many minor updates there are between now and then.

We just uploaded a little patch to fix a bug with the widgets file. Thanks to kate for pointing that one out!! Version number remains the same…

I would love the ability to collapse and expand product categories in the categories widget instead of having all the categories in a long list.

    And for me –
Use Category Grid View : yes not work

    Thank you very much.

Great stuff, thanks crew. The slashes before dollars was hacking me off something chronic, so that’s a great fix for me.

The product category widget is broken when you upgrade to 3.7.2 from 3.7.1. Replacing category.27.php and category.28.php with the 3.7.1 version fixes it. Not sure what you changed but I’d take a look at it. Thanks.

    I meant category_widget.28.php and category_widget.27.php. Sorry.

Also the variable TXT_WPSC_UPDATING_CART (3.7.2) was changed from TXT_WPSC_UDPATING_CART (3.7.1). (Updating is spelled wrong in the 3.7.1 language file and theme file). You will have to let people know to make the change in the single_product.php if they are using the theme engine. Otherwise you will see TXT_WPSC_UDPATING_CART when you add to cart instead of the correct text. Hope that makes sense.

Having problems with the UPS option for shipping

At this point in time we havfe UPS selected, however it returns a blank price or rather, no price at all.

There are no options for api integration anod no other settings to configure – so we figured it would calculate the rates based on a database or php file included in the plugin?

We are using wordpress 2.8.3 and wp ecommerce 3.7.2

After choosing the shipping location, it returns no value and adds no shipping cost.

Are we missing out on a step here to successfully implement UPS shipping ?

    Any help is appreciated!

I may be missing something, but I need to be able to put in a minimum order value for free shipping. I can’t find this anywhere and consider it to be an absolute basic of ecommerce solutions. I want to be able to give customers a shipping charge of £8.50, with free shipping if the total order value is over £49.95.

If this were possible the solution would work perfectly for a number of existing and new clients. Without it, it’s virtually unusable. Please let me know if this is possible, also I can’t find contact details anywhere on your site, is there an email address??

There’s still a flaw in coupons. It uses the actual price instead of special price. E.g. a coupon code of 10% discount on item with an original price of 40, you get a 4 for discount even if the special price is 20. Of course, the discount should be 2 instead of 4. I am using variations and I have entered the sale price as variation value.

Also, if you add more products to the shopping cart, you have to manually update the coupon code. It should be so that there’s no need to manually update the price if a coupon code is once entered.

Finally, share this is not working for me in the default template.

Could someone please confirm these issues so that we are on the same page and I am not talking total nonsense :)

    Thanks,

    Jani

I can’t seem to get the categories widget working with my custom theme. It works just fine if I use it with one of the themes that are provided. Anyone else having this problem?

    Hi Dan
This is exciting stuff. I am speaking to my web developer about setting up blog site using the WP engine with an e-commerce component for selling my paintings. There is a juggle I need to get right with my bank here in SA. Apparently I have to set up an offshore account with a monthly transfer etc. Your comments on the plugin video brought me here and I have passed all of the links to the techie for further consideration. So thanks for all the informative input.

I am getting a HUGE number of requests from customers who want this on their shopping carts:

    http://trystbykerry.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_19&products_id=324

An ability to hover over the small thumbnails, and the large picture appears on the page.
It is really something people seem to be wanting these days. Could this be a possible feature in the future?

Seriously, this is a really desired function. I had three people ask about it this week. One of them switched to another cart because they wanted it so badly.

Your plugin is a great as always, just updated from 3.6.8 RC1 to 3.7.2, and see there are many structural & visual changes (preferred the purchase logs being shown by month & color-coded — much easier to scan quickly. But, the improved product presentation options are great.). Here’s a little contribution, since I have yet to do so:

In the file ‘wpsc-includes/cart.class.php’, in the ‘remove_item($key)’ function, the ‘$this->clear_cache()’ command should be placed once directly before ‘return false’ and once before ‘return true’, instead of at the end of the function, otherwise, when you remove an item from your cart on the checkout page, the total price doesn’t decrease … it stays the same.

The total is still properly calculated on the following Paypal checkout page, however. It just may deter people from moving on to Paypal if they don’t see the proper total after removing items from their cart.

No problem. (FYI: I’ve since switched back to 3.6.8 RC1 — missed the color coded / month-by-month purchase logs too much.)

    Hi,
I made a small update to italian translation, where can I send the file?

I noticed that when a product is on sale, the sale price isn’t shown on the category page (grid view)… It would be nice to show either just the sale price or both prices.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or how common it is but there seems to be a bug with the image edit features on the product entry page. I cant seem to close it in FireFox 3.5.2 or IE7. And it doesnt like IE8 at all.
And I can only upload multiple images if I save the product with 1 image, and then attach the rest at once and save.

I live in California where the tax rate for the state is 8.25%. There is not enough room to type in 8.25 so I can only enter 8.2. In addition to that, I need to set up two additional tax rates for my district. So anything shipped to San Francisco, CA would be taxed at 9.5%, Alameda 9.75%, and the rest of California at 8.25%. Can multiple tax rates within a state be setup with this plugin?
