Kia Ora. Hi team!!!
I’m pleased to let you know that version 3.7.1 is almost ready for prime time download.
We’re very proud of this release and we’re quite chuffed with all the new features and improvements. Here is a quick overview of the 3.7.1 goodies, it should give you an idea of what is to come.
- A glorious new e-commerce template engine (finally decent e-commerce for WordPress theme designers)
- We’ve included Paypal Payments Pro (its free too!!)
- A nice and new improved user interface (including IE some fixes)
- Thumbnail image crop for product images (Firefox only sorry)
- Multiple currency support (right there in the edit product field)
- Manual override of tax on a per product basis (under products price and stock)
- Improved Shipping Options
- Theme files have been moved to a safe place (check out presentation settings)
- A new Quarterly reports Screen Option for the WP Dashboard
- Sales Log page has a field for Tracking ID (this functionality will be expanded upon)
- Single Product shortcodes
- IntenseDebate.com integration
- All in One SEO Plugin integration
Our plan is to release 3.7.1 on Monday night NZT. This gives you the opportunity to send me feedback over the NZ weekend. Here is a good place to provide us some feedback on this version plus also make some additional suggestions for 3.7.1 or 3.7.2 (we’ll see what we can do).

Manual override of tax on a per product basis (under products price and stock) – WOOHOO. :D :D
This feature will be totally useful to people in the UK where some products have a reduced VAT rate (not everything is 15%), as well as those times when you’re doing an e-commerce site for a client and they need the prices to match up ~exactly with their accounting software.
Keep up the good work. :]
Hi Dan,
great opportunity to include the most recent version of the Dutch language file. I’ll send it to you today
Taeke
Thanks guys, you rock! I am super psyched about the All in One SEO integration!!!!!
Are there new Gold Cart files?? I was never able to download the updated ones with my original purchase emails….
Hey guys, couple ideas / suggestions. I find myself looking for an easy way to customize the appearance of the packing slip. I edited the form in the admin-form-functions.php file but I have to either not upload this file when new updates take place or redo all my packing slip changes on each release. I also moved the add to cart button and price on the iShop theme up under the thumbnail on the left side. I also have to either skip the overwrite on this folder or make the changes each time I upload.
It would be nice to have a way to customize each of these and not worry about whether or not I need to overwrite the e-comm plugin folder.
Looks like you are a step ahead of me with the theme customization – I see you moved it. Thanks!
On the order notes section on the sales logs, it looks like the order notes aren’t saved once you leave and come back to this section – unless I’m looking in the wrong spot for them.
Also, for some reason, on my install, when I look at the sales details for a sale, the Buyer’s name, Phone, and Email are missing.
Another suggestion – it would be nice to be able to change the purchase number so it doesn’t look like stores are brand new when they start with really low purchase numbers. It would give more credibility to start at 1,000 or something. Maybe being able to edit this would be good.
Would it be possible to see your settings for your checkout page? Can you please email wp-admin and FTP access details to dev@instinct.co.nz
Hey Tom, I just sent an email with the login info. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
@John – Weirdly, regarding the notes, for me it seems to work fine with any orders since version 3.7 but does not save for any orders created via a previous version of the plugin.
Is that the case for you too?
Can you create a new order and test?
Hey Ben, I had to revert to 3.7 because of my checkout problems listed below. I’m wondering if my problems relate to my gold cart files. I bought a year or so ago and I don’t have the option to choose which set of files to download when I use the download link (unless I’m overlooking something)…..
I did revert to 3.7 and created a new test order and it isn’t saving my notes….
@John – Yes, the notes functionality didn’t work in 3.7 but is fixed in 3.7.1
Ok – I’ll try to run 3.7.1 once I can get the updated gold cart files.
I just tried to delete all the e-comm plugin and wpsc files and re-uploaded them. I also downloaded the newest gold cart files. It still doesn’t save the order notes and I can’t complete a checkout because of the following message: We’re Sorry, your order has not been accepted, the most likely reason is that you have insufficient funds.
@John – When you replaced all the plugin files, did you deactivate and reactivate the plugin in the admin? Reactivation is usually required to ensure any database changes are updated.
Any plans on integration the search functionality with the regular WP search box? I’m not sure if this is a possibility but it would be really convenient.
In 3.7 I can’t access some singe product pages, it just refreshes the group products page. I hope this is fixed in the next release! Also, the shopping cart when emptied embeds itself within it’s self (so there are two shopping carts). This must be fixed also.
I’m noticing this too…. it puts an extra h3 with Shopping Cart inside the widget.
Would it be possible for you to give me a link to the affected site?
Thanks.
I’m getting an issue on both iShop and Marketplace themes where the add to cart button displays wrong and the “updating…” text with circling icon shows up under the add to cart button. I’m not sure if this is isolated to my site but I reverted all files to the most recent install. It is possible I have the wrong Gold Cart files.
This messaging goes away if i add the item to the cart….
I mentioned this before but thought I’d post it here since this is the newest topic. It would be nice to have a flat rate and table rate option for overnight and 2nd or 3rd day shipping. Basically it would be another set of pricing tables that the customer could select during checkout to allow for expedited shipping.
I’m having checkout problems on the new version – using either Authorize.net or the manual checkout. If I use either method, after entering my information and payment info (credit card on Authorize.net), I get the following message:
We’re Sorry, your order has not been accepted, the most likely reason is that you have insufficient funds.
The system doesn’t log the sale. It does still charge my card though. I made 4 or 5 test purchases on my card yesterday using the most recent dev version and the cart says the purchase failed but my payment processor shows the sale. When I revert to 3.7, it works fine.
Any suggestions?
Maybe this is because I have old Gold Cart files – can someone email me the updated ones?
There’s a problem with variations. I can add as many products as I want even though, I have set “I have a limited number of this item in stock” option. E.g. 10 small size tees when there’s only 3 in the stock.
Also, could you add the purchase number to the subject of all the sent emails. It is a lot easier to find a particular purchase that way.
The variation problem is on the verify your order page. Seems to work when you click add to cart.
Failed to activate on WP 2.8.2…. :-(
Is that on the mend?
Sounds like something going on with your server.
All our test sites are 2.8.2 these days. Could be memory related I’m not sure…
There’s also an issue with single quotes in product names and nice-names. E.g. women’s shirt becomes women’s-shirt, which does not work. It should be womens-shirt.
I had that problem too – also with the use of a period in the product name. I had to take out the punctuation…
And other special characters. Should have something like this somewhere:
$url_name = preg_replace(array(”/(\s)+/”,”/[^\w-]+/i”), array(”-”, ”), $url_name);
Try refreshing your permalinks, go to the permalinks page in the wordpress settings, and saving the settings there without changing the settings.
Once you do that, permalinks with odd characters in them should start to work.
We have been asked to preserve a wider range of characters in permalinks, such as japanese characters, so I have permitted pretty much anything that isn’t a forward slash or a space.
However, are you recommending that I remove more punctuation?
If I remember correctly, the code I posted is from some WP core function. I think permalinks should be consistent across the whole site.
Also, sale price does not update. It just goes to zero. What happened to the special price checkbox? Is it no longer in use?
The sales price checkbox is no longer in use, the sale form field has moved to the top.
I have a client that sells mixtapes, so his site has a bunch of images. Is there a way to implement timthumb into the resizing of images because the current is making images extremely large. For instance it is taking some images that are only 5KB and making them 75KB-90KB. Just curious if this is something that you guys would like to invest time into. I am going to try to implement it into the current version that I am using. I think this would be very beneficial to a lot of photography stores and any other store that is using a lot of images.
Thanks
If you could help us implement this, it would be much appreciated.
I have still not yet found a way to add only 19% to countries in the EU and not in the rest of the world.
When I sell DL stuff from The Netherlands, I have to apply VAT to customers in Europe.
Is this actually somehow possible? I am working with the last beta 4, in which I already had to fix a lot of XHTML, CSS and other problems, so unless it has just been added I probably want to stay with my modified beta 4.
Cheers,
Peter
And: have fieldset tags been added to forms? And have name attributes been dropped from forms? And other issues that make pages invalid XHTML? Is validation part of the testing process before releasing a new version. I find this VERY important in an environment with WordPress and Thesis, that are so clean in this respect… I needed a lot of fixes in the wpsc PHP to address sloppy markup… sorry for the rant, but I’d actually rather pay 100 bucks for this now free software, if it were on the same clean level as Thesis.

Installed 3.7.1 beta downloaded today on a new clean install of WP 2.8.2 and have spent hours unable to get grid view working on the Products Page. The bug is that Products –> Settings -> Presentation –> Product Display has no effect — you can run it in Grid View, List View, or Default View but it will always display Default View regardless of the drop down choice applied.
Gold Cart is activated and installed in wp-content/uploads/wpsc/upgrades and I’ve copied grid_display_functions.php and grid_view.css into the gold_cart_files folder.
Fails running under the Wordpress Default theme and changing the WP-ecommerce themes has no effect either.
I had grid view working OK with 3.7 but then did this all new install of WP 2.8.2 to try out 3.7.1 beta and discovered this Product Display problem.
I can provide a login if you want to poke around on this install.
Did you upload the themes folder to the uploads/wpsc/themes/ folder? I made that mistake when I first uploaded the new theme…
After installing the latest 3.7.1. in my wp 2.8.2. site the backend works but frontend fails to load. blank page…
Thanks, this has been fixed. (thank for providing us with access)
Hi!
Thanks for the update. Just testing it. I can report the following problems. Otherwise, seems to work just fine.
-Admin-> Products -> View all Categories -> Filter -> does not work
-Permalinks still have single quotes
-Variation does not show “out of stock” for 0 qty in stock in drop menus
-I cannot get the shipping details fields to show at checkout, shows only the billing details fields when using the default theme
-Default theme does not show special price on product page
Tech details:
-iMac
-FF 3.5.1
-WP 2.8.2
Hello
I am looking at upgrading to the “Gold Cart Shop” – saw note about “In future the Business Upgrade files will come with DropShop bundled.”
I wanted to upgrade with the DropShop, if this is bundled in the future does this mean it will be $195 for both?
Thanks in advance
The Google Checkout integration appears to be slightly broken.
I have WP-ECommerce set to use Google Checkout only but I’m getting a form to fill in on the checkout page, if you then click Make Purchase it refreshes the checkout to only show the Google Checkout button (as it should).
Any ideas?
Hey guys, just wanted to say hi and thanks for the continued support! Tom responded pretty quickly and I believe his advice solved most if not all of my issues… The main issue was related to not deactivating and reactivating the plugin after the upgrade…
Is anyone else having issues with Canadian Taxes(still) in this version? It doesn’t seem to handle regions as described in the 3.7 launch page. Is there a fix I am missing? It doesn’t seem to be a critical issue for most people posting the forums. Love the plugin otherwise btw. :D
i am more looking forward to a text field variation…..
Hi,
I tried to register in your forum. After 24h I didn’t get the password email which was promised after a few minutes.
What did I do wrong?
Please take my email address, my name and send me a password.
Works wonderful! Thanks for your nice work!,lucy
