The first person to submit a Thematic Child theme that looks the same as the simpleCart demo site and functions in a comparable way will win $240 USD and get profiled on our site.
I built the same thing last week using Thematic and WP e-Commerce in just under 2 hours so I know its possible.
If this works and turns out to be fun then we’ll look at running a weekend challenge on a regular basis. The main goal here is to make more e-Commerce themes available for WordPress e-Commerce users and help profile your skills.
The Rules:
- Must look the same (or a nice variation)
- Must use Thematic
- Must use WP e-Commerce 3.7 Beta 4 or Higher
- Must be emailed to dan@instinct.co.nz before the end of the weekend
Notes for future challenges:
- Submission must include checkout page design
- Pay attention to fonts, margins and padding

I’m really going to have to dig in to Thematic. This was my first time playing around with it or child themes. I also really like the e-Commerce plugin, but with the time-crunch, I couldn’t really prod around as much as I’d have liked.

I just realized you (as in anybody participating) might need Grid View.
Ordinarily to obtain Grid View you need to buy the files from our shop. However for this challenge – if you send me a zip file containing your initial efforts (like Nick) then I’ll gladly send you the files and an API key on the house.
I think next weekend we’ll do a threadless.com challenge ;)

Hi team. This just came in from our resident template guru Tom; Take the code from the following file and apply the same logic to the cart_widget.php file.

Integrating this code would generate a 48 by 48 px thumbnail image in the shopping cart thus making your submission that much more like SimpleCart ;)
