We’re getting very close to a full 3.7 release which is very exciting. Last time we asked for your feedback it was clear that most people wanted a template engine, more shortcodes and more template tags. Done.
Here are some of the things we’re looking at for 3.7.1:
- inline adding and removing of product categories
- multi currency support
- new variations model
- wholesale price vs normal price
- more shortcodes and template tags
- fedex shipping module
The list could go on but we want to hear what you think. Once we’ve captured this data we’ll write another post and setup a poll where you, the community decide what features make it….

Hi there, I’d like to see more control over cross sales and related items. For example, to be able to see a summary list of products that can be hand ticked to complement the product – maybe in the way the variations module works. Or, more simply for the site editor, by tags. So, the tag ‘camera’ can be related to the the tag ‘printer’. This way, when someone is looking at a camera, they’ll also see a printer (or list of printers) in the related items section. :-)
manually cross sales? similar and related products.

Just looked at this again. WP e-Commerce already does rating so that isnt a biggie but in terms of email a friend – are there not already other Plugins that do this (i don’t think WP e-Commerce should do it if there is already another widget that does it).
However we could look at making the two plugins work together. What do you think?
You are right now integrate a plugin AddThis kind or another is fairly simple, as the form tell a friend, for example cforms plays very well this work.
When the translation with gettext? __ ()
But to speak with qtranslate / wp ecommerce is not just talk?
really thanks for your wonderful work.
Hello fellas! Awesome job, as always. This version is going to be so kick ass! The only thing I was thinking would be really cool on a new version, is having multiple downloads on one purchase. What I mean is, say you wanted to sell a PC version, and a Mac version of the same thing. Instead of doing two separate products, have two downloadable links. You could also use this for say a bundle of products you want to sell for a limited time. That way you could make one product, and have multiple downloads attached to the product. Just my two cents. Again awesome job you guys have done. I’m sure it feels like a thankless job being free and all, but I just wanted to tell you guys how amazing this plugin is! Thanks sincerely.
Charles
That might get done sooner then you think…
Testimonial Manager is a must!
I have a rather large list of stuff here. Have at it.
Thanks for all of your hard work.
Please, please, please fix the UPS Shipping Module. Regardless of what you choose, residential or commercial, the cost it comes back with is ALWAYS the commercial price which is anywhere from 20-40% less than the residential pricing. It makes the UPS module unusable.
In fact, the entire shipping module needs to be re-done so that it’s both more user friendly and ALWAYS accurate. The shipping module has always been the bane of my experience with wp e-commerce.
Add “Local Pickup” and “Local Delivery” options to the shipping module so that local customers can have the convenience of online ordering without having to pay UPS/USPS shipping costs.
Tick box so that the user needn’t fill out both the Billing and Shipping Address on the checkout screen. It’s really annoying to have to type the same info twice.
More control over coupons and such. It would be really nice to be able to have a buy any product get some other predetermined product free (Buy anything and get this neat pen for free).
Allow users to take an item offline without having to delete the product.
Fix sales page. I can’t read anything in the “Sales” table because it “leaks” out of the right margin into other content. If you need a screen shot, let me know.
When a sale goes through PayPal, please set the radio button to “Accepted Payment” rather than “Order Completed”.
Also, an email to the administrator’s address with the order summary (items, customer info etc) would be very useful. The buyer gets notification that an order was successfully made, why don’t I? I don’t want to have to rely on PayPal emails or checking the sales page multiple times daily to keep up on orders. I’d like to get an email when an order is placed so that even if I’m on the road, I know about it.
When a customer clicks on an item image, send the customer to the item page (as if he/she clicked on the item title) rather than the thickbox of the image which is completely useless in a store context.
On the “Add an Item” screen, make “Additional Description” also contain Rich Text editing buttons (for adding links, text styling, etc) so that users needn’t use html to make those things happen.
Adding an image is a bit buggy. It generally works, but my database is so messed up right now with all of the product image additions and subtractions when testing, on occasion the wrong images show up for products. Right now I can’t delete product images and add new ones at all. The old ones stick no matter what I do.
Please make clicking on the image/title in the “Specials” widget go to the product page. Right now the only thing a user can do is add to cart. He/she can’t read anything about it unless they go to the page, and the widget doesn’t allow for that. The idea is to make buying stuff simple. Having to navigate through the menus to read about a product that is listed on the front page (and every other page for that matter) is counter-intuitive to that.
What an awesome list!!! Thanks for taking the time… I think some of these have already been implemented in RC1 and RC2 (due out soon).
Can you confirm what you’re testing on and if these are all still issues in RC1. That said I also know some are not implemented and the ones that are not will be getting a good look over from us.
Excellent. I’ll take a good look at the latest version and see what’s up.
I emphatically second the option for “Local Pick Up” in addition to shipping. I run a local independent bookstore’s website powered by Wordpress, and I’m getting ready to implement WP-ECommerce and the owner of the store would very much like a “local pick up” option.
Would be quite cool to add integration for the Google XML Sitemaps plugin so that product pages are automatically added to an XML sitemap.
I have already done a basic integration for WP e-Commerce 3.6.12 but I couldn’t find an obvious hook in your plugin that triggers whenever you add/edit/delete a product. Would be happy to help integrate this – see the post about my 3.6.12 integration at http://tinyurl.com/mgtzdf
That is a great idea. If we include a hook for you can you please look at integrating this?
Yes, no worries. If you include a 3 separate hooks for when products are added, edited and deleted, that would probably be best.
It might also be a good idea to add hooks for when categories/groups are added/edited/delated too, then it would also be possible to add category pages to the sitemap.
multilingual and multi currency support :-)
Well I see import was added…
We need an export function… and a download base template file perhaps..
Like to simply export current products, make bulk edits, then simply import to update the current products… havent tried the import yet but is there ability to add/modify/delete in the import function? there is usually similar function in other carts.
Oh one bug I still notice is when ANY Variations are changed/added it clears all the values, omg this is frustrating esp after spending lots of time filling out pricing etc only to have it quickly cleared.
I think the way variations are handled at a product level needs to be slightly more robust – not sure how yet, but I’ll have a think…
Also, the possibility to set sale/special price at a variation level is a fairly important one. For example, if I was selling a large/medium/small T-shirt, I might want to only put a sale price on the small size.
Hi, I’m using the latest version of WP E-Commerce (v3.7.4) and it’s been really great so far.
There are however a few problems I’ve encountered. Firstly, the thumbnails section is rather buggy. My images turn out either stretched or cropped if it’s not a square. Setting image sizes (exact pixel size) on the product page and/or settings page do not work for me at all. I’ve even tried figuring out the problem using firebug and it seems like the code is stuck somewhere. Any clues? & no, I did try reinstalling the whole wordpress + wpcart and it didn’t work out either.
Also, I would also like to request for an option for my customers to choose delivery timings and dates for local delivery. Additionally, when that particular date and timing is full, the customer would be prompted to make another choice. This feature would allow me to make trips to deliver my items personally, locally. One example you can look at would be a flower shop.
It would be really fantastic if you could include these options. Meanwhile, great work there! Thumbs up for you guys. :D
Mythreal sells games and collectibles at up to 33% discount and UK shipping is FREE whatever the size of your order, large or small.
