WordPress 2.8 is go

Matt Mullenweg has just announced that WordPress 2.8 “Baker” is available for immediate download.

Timing is impeccable. I’m pleased to say that the latest nightly build of the WP e-Commerce Plugin for WordPress is fully functional in WordPress 2.8 and utilizes a range of the new features that come with WordPress 2.8.

    Hi,
After upgrading to WP2.8 the E-commerce Settings page only shows the general tab nothing else responds.

How do I upgrade to the latest build?

    Thanks

I noticed the post on the 3.7 beta is password protected, was that on purpose? I second that it would be very nice to have access to some of the 3.7 files

I have wp-ecommerce, and I just upgraded to WP 2.8.

I was having the issue with the settings page, but I’ve found a workaround, for now.

(in Firefox 3, at least) If you right click (the settings page you want to see) – open in new tab, it will load up the way you want to.

I would also like to know how to upgrade to the latest, WP 2.8 compatible, version of wp-ecommerce.

This is still Version 3.6.12 – which has all the mentioned problems.
      Awaiting the final update.

  7. Posted June 12, 2009 at 12:01 pm | Permalink

Even after upgrading with the development version, I experience an error on the Checkout page. State changed, but sales tax still shows.
Previous version would remove the sales tax.

Error: uncaught exception: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: [@class=current_country]

I too am having issues since upgrading to WP 2.8. I can’t even activate the plugin. How do I upgrade, or make it work? Here’s the error I’m getting: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 491520 bytes) in /home/freedon9/public_html/steve-shead/wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce/submit_checkout_function.php on line 384

I just thought I would let you know that there are a few mistakes (typos) in this web page text: http://www.instinct.co.nz/e-commerce/product-comparisons/

But see you are going to be busy for a while with the new WordPress update.

    hi,
it locks up the drag and drop widgets for 2.8…had to deactivate it. :(

You also need to clear your cache.

        thank you anyway.

Clear cache doesn’t work… we need a plugin update… both the settings page and the widgets drag and drop are held up by this plugin…

I think the lesson here is don’t update wordpress unless you are sure that the plugin in functional first. Test test test.

    Hi,

How do I get the latest nightly build?

I can add new items but not with variations. When I click on a variation option the check boxes are blank if I manually click them they do not stick when I save the changes.

The Light box has stopped working on all single product images.

This was not ready for launch I will be far more cautious in future.

Today we’re fixing a few more issues. The Beta should be released today – we’re expecting lots of feedback :P

We have things mostly working on 2.8 – our own shop is using 2.8 so it should be working for you.

Just downloaded WP e-commerce today. Can’t wait to get everything setup. Like others here Widgets no longer work in WP 2.8, and the “tabs” in wp e-commerce don’t work either. Yes, I’ve cleared the cache ;-).

    Thanks!

Ok cool > The latest development version works on 2.8 – we just fixed a rogue Javascript error that was killing widgets.

Thanks Dan. The plug-in isn’t showing any updates available as of yet :-/. Which file(s) were fixed? Maybe I can just re-download and manually replace the file.

        Thanks again for your help!

I’m still waiting to hear back on whether or not the tax issue will be addressed in the most recent updates. Will you guys be fixing the issue with sales tax not working in the United States? I sent an email for a quote and didn’t receive a response. I’m running multiple sites and have purchased gold modules for each and I’d just like to know if I should go find another solution.

  21. Posted June 17, 2009 at 6:56 am | Permalink

I downloaded the eCommerce (Gold) plugin yesterday but unfortunately also upgraded to 2.8 last night. I’m having the same problems as everyone above, locked widgets, unresponsive settings nav etc. Link above doesn’t seem to help, nor does emptying cache… any news or do we have to downgrade to 2.7 while bugs are fixed? This is an awesome plugin, I hope I can get it working soon, I have a few additional sites I want to purchase it for. Thanks!

Same issues here. Breaks the widgets, interfere with other plugins, the website doesn’t give you any info about the potential problems. Come on guys a simple edit on the main page can clear out a lot of confusion and help reduce users frustrations. Can’t you spare 2 minutes??!!

  23. Posted June 17, 2009 at 10:40 am | Permalink

Looking to purchase the premium version of the plugin but as others have noted, its not working properly in 2.8 as of yet.

One thing I noticed and not sure if its been mentioned yet, but the “add to cart” button ‘appears’ to do nothing on the front-end of the site, but does add items to the cart. Maybe a ‘loading’ indicatator should be added so when you click “Add to Cart” the little ajax loader image appears. Currently there’s no way to know if adding an item was successful until you go to the checkout screen or view the cart.

    Thanks

I am having the same issue as Dan. The ajax functionality is not working properly. Can it be edited so it uses a page re-load instead of ajax?

Hi; I’m having the same issues with WP 2.8 (Firefox 3/IE 8) as everyone else — specifically the nav issues in the settings tab. I appreciate your plug-in very much, and don’t mean to add pressure…but…any ETA on fixes?

    THANKS for your work!

Hi Dan Milward, thanks for this nice plugin we are eagerly waiting for an update for this plugin. Please please do it asap :)

  31. Posted July 5, 2009 at 9:07 am | Permalink

I’m using wp 2.8 and wpec 3.6.12. Took me forever to figure this out.

    To fix the tabs:

go to admin.js and find and replace all: ui.panel.id with $tabs.

    To fix widgets:

    1. Open wp-shopping-cart.php
    2. Find ” if(strpos($_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'], “wp-admin”) === false) ” around line 2670.
    3. Add this conditional to the if statements. “if(strpos($_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'], “widgets.php”) == 10) {
// we are on the widgets page and don’t need this crap
    } else”

It’s a hack for now until they fix it.

Thanks for fixes… works fine! I Tried to upgrade to WPEC 3.7.1 but I don’t liked. To many bugs… The 3.6.12 is very estable. I will wait for future versions… Thanks again…
