In between Beta 2 and Beta 3

In between Beta 2 and Beta 3 is the nightly development versions. We’ve pretty much gone through and polished up your bugs but before we release Beta 3 we thought we will get the following jobs polished too.

We’ve also fixed the gold files and updated the links in your purchase receipts so that you always download the latest versions.

Pending “Roadmap” for WP e-Commerce Beta 3

  • Template tag for SKU
  • Implement code from Notranja oprema
  • Clean up base directory
  • Clean up the code for dynamically resizing images
  • Look at the caching system for dynamically resizing images, allow clearing it, do so automatically under some situations
  • Look at doing some optimisation using xdebug to get rid of the out of memory issues (even though we know simplepie is contributing).
  • Language file to gettext (nah this won’t be Beta 3 but it will be in the full release)

    Hi Dan,

I’ve tried a fresh install on my site, with both nightly builds from WP and your plugin, and the same problem persists.

As you suggested, I’ve emailed all the relevant details to Tom – let me know if you need anything else.

    Let’s get this baby rocking!

Grrr. You forgot to mention that you were running a Beta version of WordPress. WP 2.8.1 does this on purpose – its a long story but to cut things short it’ll be 2.8.1 compatible tonight :D

Hey guys, adding a bulk add to category would be an awesome feature! You’re almost there with bulk delete. =)

(p.s. beta 2 upgraded fine for me)

Humm something Else, i just added a checkout and in admin panel i got this

“WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1]
SELECT value FROM wp_wpsc_submited_form_data WHERE log_id=1 AND form_id=”

    I’m using MySQL 5.0

I cannot seem to find anywhere that answered Benjamin’s issue above. Although my problem isn’t exactly, it is similar.

I have e-commerce setup to use Google Checkout and am using MySQL 5.1.

When items are added to the cart with the “Add to Cart” button, the cart (which I have displayed in the page), gives the following error upon adding the item:

WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1]
DELETE FROM `wp_wpsc_cart_contents` WHERE purchaseid =

Is there an issue where the purchase ID isn’t recorded or the purchase log ID isn’t found or something?

I believe it is from this line in, ‘Google-Checkout-XML.php’:
      $sql = “DELETE FROM `”.WPSC_TABLE_CART_CONTENTS.”` WHERE purchaseid = “.$purchase_log_id;

The lightbox feature is working again as is adding products. Thanks!

Variations still doesn’t work. And before it quit working all together (last two builds) it was no longer offering the option to add pricing.

    Thanks again for your help!

    Dear Mr Milward…. naeh…. Dan ;-)
(just being polite and showing respect)

    WP 2.8 + eCom 3.7 Beta 2 + Gold/Grid download 090622

    1. All placed in correct dirs and “Upgrade” tab is there.
    2. API ok and active

Following error occurs (same line) – no matter what layout I select:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wpsc_get_product_listing() in /var/www/rd.akermanscove.com/wp-content/uploads/wpsc/upgrades/gold_cart_files/grid_display_functions.php on line 13

    A closer inspection to the:
    1. Gold cart PHP file
    2. The Grid PHP files
There seem to be no change in these and the version/dates are from February?!

    Any ideas?

    Regards

Are the file Permission settings in Linux of any relevance to the Gold/Grid/ other packages files?

And in that case, what should they be set to?

For what it’s worth…you guys are doing a great job, but…lots of problems over many hours of testing a fresh install of the “in between” version into WP 2.8, and nothing to show for it….

    1) More Details (Additional Description) doesn’t work for me
    2) Variations doesn’t work
    3) Shopping cart in sidebar….not working right for me, either

Here’s the error relative to Variations, appearing in the admin Display Products: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/content/////wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce/wpsc-includes/variations.class.php on line 361

Note that once a variation is checked, I cannot uncheck it (due to the error?). This same item does not display price properly in category pages, but does display the price properly on the product page and in the shopping cart.

Maybe it’s me. The cart seemed okay for awhile, but is now going haywire now that I’m pushing it. Cart will replace an existing item with an recently added item for no apparent reason. Something seems crossed up. Number of Items doesn’t add total properly, and the quantities don’t calc the incremental additions of any one item.

Oh, well….I hope this is of some help to you. Many lost hours today.

    • Posted June 24, 2009 at 5:21 am | Permalink

When you click on a product thumbnail, and a large version of the product picture is shown “in front of” the current page. That thingy is a lightbox.

    Hi Guys!

First time caller here. I think the plugin, and your efforts here, are fantastic. Many kudos!

I’m running the latest (I think) 3.7 beta on WPMU.

I’m still not getting the “Add to Cart” function. As in, I click the button and nothing happens.

I did see a post about that at one point but can’t seem to find it.

A few other glitches, but one at a time works best, I’m sure.

Thanks for making such a good product even better.

Just an FYI. I have the latest on both WP and the E-C plugin. I purchased the Gold Cart and activated it successfully. I presume there is supposed to be an additional tab in the settings area for the Gold Cart options. I do not see it…

    Suggestions?

Thank you for the hard work!

Anyone else having problems with 3.7beta2 on WP2.8 with variations… I can add a new set, but then after selecting them on the tick boxes and saving the product, they then all end up unticked… I’ve got nowhere to add the pricing info as per the previous versions…

Am I missing something here or is there a bug still?

    Thanks, Mark

I am interested to know why my response to my own post was deleted?

I am currently a purchaser of the Gold Cart. I am not able to see gold cart tab? Installed on WPMU 2.7.1 and Gold Files for 3.7 are located in
      wp-content/uploads/wpsc/upgrades

Some reponse would be the right thing to do since this is going on 7 days?

We’re also having problems with Variations using WPEC 3.7b2 on Wordpress 2.8.

When can we expect a fix? Thanks!

  23. Posted June 24, 2009 at 3:31 pm | Permalink

After upgrading WP I experienced some problems with widget interface so I upgraded to the 3.7 beta of WP e-Commerce. I just created my site, and it removed all of my products and categories. When I tried to add the categories back, it just says “The item has not been added” and doesn’t tell me why it won’t add it. I cannot add any products until I have a category to apply them to. I added the uploads/wpsc/upgrades directory in wp-content after getting the warning message upon upgradings. What else am I missing?

Humm guys i know there’s no Beta 3, but try to download nightly development versions they have already fixed lot of stuff, and do the same as i, install a fresh wordpress in a folder then install the latest beta, so you can compare if you’re having issues with plugins, wordpress or WP-EC, because there’s not always WP-EC fault as my own experience

    1) It doesn’t include the flat rate shipping price in the total.
    2) When it passes it to Paypal the price is completely wrong

On a fresh install of WP 2.8.1 beta and 3.7 latest development version (as of June 24th). I can’t get hyperlinks to work in the product description. In the WYSIWYG editor all the links are highlighted etc. under html i can see the correct code (although the html editor is crammed into about 1/4 size it should be, you can still scroll).

Any way you could get this fix into the next development version Dan?

I can still not get gold files to work. In fact, after installing the ecommerce plugin, I can no longer even change the permissions on my own file folders under under /wp-content/uploads/wpsc/upgrades

ergo, can’t even upload the gold files into this new location.

I’ve noticed many several other people are having same or similar issue with 3.7.x and 2.8

Only reason why I went with the 3.7.x beta at all was due to the issues that 3.6 was having with 2.8 (note first installed to 2.8 not knowing that the product was not working with 2.8) used this plugin a couple years ago with great success, but big problems with it now.

Installation instructions on instinct are currently woefully confused and piece meal for the different versions/beta versions so trouble shooting is a real nightmare right now.

Does anyone have any clear installation instructions ?

Not counting the following which are definitely part of the problem

Installing the Gold Files (Premium Upgrade)For WP e-Commerce 3.6 Unpack the files and copy the contents of the Gold zip file into the “wp-e-commerce” directory in your plugins folder. If you have copied this over properly there will now be a new tab in the E-Commerce admin options called Gold Options, once you have browsed to this page and you have entered in your API key all of the additional gold features will unlock. For WP e-Commerce 3.7

Unpack the files and copy the contents of the Gold zip file into the “wp-content/uploads/wpsc/upgrades” folder. If you have copied this over properly there will now be a new tab in the E-Commerce admin options called Gold Options, once you have browsed to this page and you have entered in your API key all of the additional gold features will unlock.

It will be great to have multi-language capabilities.
There is any plan to add this?
    Thanks in advance…
