WP e-Commerce 3.7 questions?

Hey Team. We’re getting closer to a next generation WP e-Commerce but there are a few things we want to discuss with you before we launch.

Questions

  1. Where do people want the gold files kept in future. We were thinking wp-content/uploads/wpsc or something similar.
  2. Where do people want template files kept. Again I was thinking wp-content/uploads/wpsc/templates or something similar. We could do something snazy and create theme files in each WordPress theme but it seems overkill and not 100% necessary.  What are your thoughts?
  3. Add / Edit Products. We’re going to overhaul this page and we want to know if you want us to keep the dual screen (products on one side and edit products on the other). My own preference is to have both and make it so that you can turn it into two page or collapse the product list in the left.

I’m open to suggestions. And if anybody thinks they have what it takes to help with this release then email me and we will look at adding you to our SVN.

The next generation of WP e-Commerce and you!

A list of pending jobs is available online and we’d love to see you get involved!!

Would you consider integrating Setcom (a South African payment gateway) with WP e-commerce in the near future? If not, is it possible to do the integration myself?
    Regards

Thanks, but I’m not referring to Mygate but to Setcom (www.setcom.co.za), another South African payment gateway.

        Hi Dan,

Thanks for all your helpful info all over the web :)

Would it be possible to send me the mygate.php file. I’m trying to integrate the wp-ecommerce cart with a South Africa payment service provider and am not having much luck with paypal so would like to try mygate.

        Thanks so much

Which version of Gold Cart is compatible with 3.7 Beta 1? Will the one I bought and downloaded on your site yesterday work with it (that is Version: 3.4 Date: 13/2/2009) or do I need a newer development version that doesn’t seem to be in the ZIP folder with the beta? Also, what folder does Gold Cart now install in with 3.7? I see at the start of this blog there is discussion of moving Gold Cart install in 3.7 to a new location? Did it move? I can’t seem to get it to show up in the Products menu in Dashboard when I unzip the files and copy into wp-content/plugins/wp-ecommerce/ where we always installed it with 3.6

Is there going to be an option for customers to click a Same as Billing option on this version?

Unfortunatly not in Beta 1… but defintely in Beta 2. Unfortunatly I can’t give you a time frame just yet. Probably in the next couple of weeks.

We’re working on that “and” the ability to step the checkout.

tried 3.71 (free version) and the sale / Price module does not work ie it does not show the discounted price, downgrading to 3.6.12 stops wp drag and drop widget from working. down grading wp to 2.6.3 all is better…

what is truly need in wp-ecommerce is the ability to export the products/configuration when setting a demo for a customer, this way when you go live then you can import the config without the need to re setup the groups/brands and products.

this would also benefit customer in backing up their database in the case of a crash, it is much easier importing a XML file than usig sql statements/copying a sql database

also a deficiency in variation control is is you add a variation eg size and you insert 7,8,10,11,12 and you save the variation but have not attached any products to the variations, and you relise that you missed size 9 then variation control should be able to add in size 9 between size 8 and 10 rather than just appending to the end of the list, alternatively an ajax drag and drop list and be easier

Can we make a tutorial for Custom Payment Gateways! Thats easier to follow, the one on the forum causes an error.

“Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘&’ in /home/mysitehost/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce/merchants/realex.php on line 58″

    HI

I decided to take a look at your wordpress solution today to see if it was a viable option for us in shop development.

    Sadly not!
I dont understand how you can fail at the first BIG hurdle …
    scenario…
    1) I have 20 sml tshirts, 30 med, 30 large and 20 xlarge.
    2) While i can add the product and variations using your system, i can only have one global total stock unit?? So if i set my t shirt stock to 100, whats stopping me over sell smll tshirts limit of 20 ? why are there no stock controls on variations?

    Hey Dan,

I would really like the mygate.php and any other scripts for South African based payment gateways if you have them.

I also tries to download the 2Checkout plugin but the page keeps bombing out.
If you could send that too it would really be great.

My coder is trying to convince me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses. But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on several websites for about a year and am anxious about switching to another platform. I have heard good things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress content into it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
