WP e-Commerce Plugin 3.6.10

I am pleased to annouce that WP e-Commerce 3.6.9 has been launched. More then anything I would like to thank our supporters, fans, testers friends and developers. To name just a few; Taeke, Sancho, Kate, Marcus, Wes, Shayne, Tom, Allen, Jeff, Anson and David. All your efforts are appreciated so so much!!

Not only have we improved the plugin but we’ve improved our documentation – each page now has a releated files section and we’re working on our own Wiki.

Following is a list of changes, if I’ve missed anything let me know.

  • Variations should be solid like a rock
  • Variation database tables = fixed
  • “Add to Cart” shortcode has been added
  • Admin UI tweaks (product groups page, edit products page and sales page)
  • Language files database now used UTF-8 encoding (or same as WordPress)
  • Tax options have been improved for USA sellers (thanks Jim)
  • Coupon fixes (they do not nearly double in some situations)
  • We scraped our own mailer script in favor for using the WordPress WP_Mail() function
  • Call to “db_version” fixed so that it does not cause fatal errors in older versions of wordpress
  • Search has been improved to search Custom Meta + Additional descriptions
  • A number of small Google Checkout issues have been resolved
  • The “Resend purchase receipt” has been fixed to work with WP 2.7
  • The odd Paypal tweaks
  • Removal of unused files (code cleanup begins)
  • A new e-Commerce “Screen Option” is available in WordPress 2.7 Dashboard
  • Code that expected the plugin to be in the /wp-shopping-cart/ directory = fixed
  • Updating code that had gone haywire = fixed
  • A number of unneeded SQL queries have been removed
  • Plus a range of smaller but as equally important fixes (UI tweaks etc…)
  • Shipping UI changes
  • Admin javascript issues fixed
  • Unchecked shipping options are now greyed out in the select menu
  • Adjusting quantity on shopping cart page fixed
  • Issue with adding variations fixed
  • Weight is now saved on variations when adding new products
  • UPS improvements (additional options added to admin screen)
  • We changed the mysql database encoding to UTF General (same as WordPress) to handle all languages
  • More text has been added to the language file.
  • Fixed a bug with SWFuploader, now you can upload images with extensions that are in caps i.e. picture.JPG
  • If no payment gateway is selected your site won’t break when you are testing – the default gateway is now manual payment / test gateway.
  • Price Range Widget now sorts properly
  • Admin “Screen Options” fixed (WordPress 2.7 feature)
  • Product Variations now properly supports Stock (nice AJAX solution)
  • Pagination bugs are fixed
  • Sales Page UI has been tidied up
  • Removal of unused files
  • Default Plugin folder <code>/wp-shopping-cart/</code> changed to <code>/wp-e-commerce/</code>
  • Zip code error message moved to under shipping options

  • Groups Page UI has been overhauled

  • All admin pages fit in 1024 x 768 resolution

“I am pleased to annouce that WP e-Commerce 3.6.9 has been launched.”
    Huh?

The title says “3.6.10″, and I can’t find a link to that anywhere, just 3.6.9. And in WP it won’t update.

Ok, the download is now 3.6.10, but the first line of text still lists “I am pleased to annouce that WP e-Commerce 3.6.9 has been launched.”

OK, got it. It’s on Wordpress’s site. I made the mistake of downloading it from your site, which has the old version still, for some unknown reason….

I have updated the link on our site to download the 3.6.10 version. My bad!!!

I can think of two features that would be great to have.

    1) A sale that times out. So you can have a deal of the day or a deal of the week without having to go back through your products and reset prices.

    2) The ability to have a third price for people that have user accounts.

Is there user account stat tracking, products viewed, products purchased, etc, etc?

Actually a plethora of stats to track would be nice, where products are selling, how quickly they sold out , what age group is buying what etc, etc. This would enable people to better target the audience with products.

This would be an amazing feature to have for WPEcommerce. I’ve been thinking of having someone write a plugin for me, but even better if it was built in :D

    Hi Dan!

First of all, I want to congratulate the Instinct-team! I think you have made a beautiful Wordpress plugin.

There is just one thing I would like to change (I have tried, but my skills are apparently not that great).

In some shopping carts you see on the Internet it’s possible to retrieve ones address just by entering ones phone-number on the checkout page. This makes it much easier for people to purchase stuff…

What do you say? Can it be implemented in a future version?

I saw in the list that you have updated some language files. I would like to help for fixing the Bulgarian ones.

    Hello Dan,
I have a challenging assignment, A website with e-commerce for mobile devices. Is your plugin compatible with any of the mobile plug-ins? If so, which one is the best you think?
Thanks in advance. I really would appreciate your help on this!!
    Christine
    PS: I’ll donate! Promise!
