I’m pleased to announce a minor WP e-Commerce Plugin release. The new 3.6.12 release (in theory) will be the last release before 3.7 which is due out soon.
Here is a full list of changes:
- More fixes to stop the spamming of purchase logs
- New dashboard widget
- Donations widget now refreshes the cart when on the checkout page
- Fixes to remove backslashes from product names with single quotation marks
- Admin purchase log RSS feed fixed
- Paypal Express shipping module fixed
- Target Markets feature added

Does the new dashboard widget fix that problem of non-admins seeing the e-Commerce Income/Total Amount earned info on their dashboards?
This version of the plugin seems to be broken with a vanilla Wordpress 2.7.1 install.
I cannot select a base Country/Region or a Currency type. Also, the Target Markets section includes a PHP warning:
Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in … wp-e-commerce/options.php on line 660
@Jerod & @JB: Problem fixed (at least in my case). I deactivated, then reactivated, the WP E-commerce plugin and it solved both the Country drop-down not showing up, as well as, the Invalid argument for foreach ()… I’m running WordPress 2.7.1 and WP E-commerce 3.6.12. Hope this works for you guys.
@Reid: Unfortunately your fix didn’t work for me. Using a brand new WordPress 2.7.1 and WP E-commerce 3.6.12 installation and getting that same exact errors.
@ Dan M: Any ideas on this? I’m actively looking for an e-commerce system for one of my clients and will be interested in your paid plugins as well. Need Australian functionality.
Using Theme: Atahualpa 3.3.2 and the pages and widgets seem to be showing up fine in it.
Having the same problem. There doesn’t seem to be any answer out there and no one seems to be trying. Looks like there are a significant number of people looking for this specific solution. No drop down for country, the only settings page that loads when clicked is shipping. PLEASE HELP!
Just installed fresh and the exact same thing happened to me that happened to Jerod. How can we fix this? I’m very impressed with the plugin and really need this to function properly.
The download link from the main page is stil 3.6.10
I’m unclear on how to upgrade having read some comments that indicated we shouldn’t just use the auto-update feature in Wordpress. Wise to download and install pieces or safe to update from 3.6.10?
Also curious if there are more details about the new features posted. Somewhere to read about what they do?
Thanks
Hui, i was just about to go ahead with the upgrade are these issues fixed or should i just go ahead?
The link on our e-Commerce Plugin page has been updated. Thanks for pointing that out.
I am currently running 3.6.10with the grid view (which I can’t use because it doesn’t look right on screen) and the gold cart.
I see the new version is out, but I can’t upgrade it in the wordpress back office. Any ideas how to do this (or even if it is a good idea)
On another note, I have been trying to integrate paypal for two days now. When I view the checkout screen, the option to pay by google checkout is visible, but no pay pal option. I have put the correct API keys/user names etc in.
Is there a resource anywhere which tells me how to integrate paypal?
I’d be grateful for any kind of help.
This is probably more to do with your CSS. Check out http://www.icondock.com to see a nice Grid View. If you need somebody to help hunt around in our forums :)
We’ve tested this update with no success, what’s the best method for sending bug reports?
For now. Probably emailing me. What is not working – we went through a huge testing phase with 3.6.10 and 11 and its working fine for most people :P
Am an using the free version and have set up my api info and put it into the correct fields on the payment options. Everything looks fine, until I go to test a payment — then I get an error:
SetExpressCheckout API call failed. Detailed Error Message: Security header is not validShort Error Message: Security errorError Code: 10002Error Severity Code: Error
Can anyone shed some light on how to fix this problem? If I purchase the gold cart, will I have better luck?
please get back asap,
Thanks a lot :)
whoops== I mean I AM….
I don’t even know which gateway you are using Holly. I think you should take this line of questioning to the forums since there are more people there with the skills necessary to help you out :)
Good luck with your e-Commerce site!!!
Hi Dan,
I am having the same problem.
I set up my payment options to Paypal – Express Checkout, filled in my API username, password, and signature (provided by paypal), but end up with an error when making a purchase. The error reads:
SetExpressCheckout API call failed. Detailed Error Message: Security header is not validShort Error Message: Security errorError Code: 10002Error Severity Code: Error
Any idea what the problem could be? I am using version 2.7 and am using a theme called iNove if that helps at all.

Same here as well (and I’m using Gold)

version 3.6.12 wp-shopping cart. I am running this on a test wp blog. Keep getting fatal errors from this page. display-items.php on line 802 due to this url $baseurl = includes_url(’js/tinymce’);. This same url was on line 800 in version 3.6.11 and also gave a fatal error when the Manage Products link was used.
When I click on my thumbnail picture and it takes me to the product page the price goes to 0? How do I change this so that the price remains the same in grid view thumbnail screen and when you click on the image?? Thanks
If you take a look at the products page. All of the products are showing nicely in grid view. However, when you go to the Kitchen / Kitchen Faucet tab, they are displaying in List View. I added the link like you add a nextgen gallery on each page. When I added the products, ALL products were displaying in grid view. However, I deleted one part of the link which said “full”. When I did that it changed to ONLY kitchen however it is in list view.
From the products page this showed up when added [wpsc_category=12,full] (this displayed all products in grid view)
I changed to this [wpsc_category=12] (now only kitchen faucets which is correct, however not in grid)
-I tried to add [wpsc_category=12,Grid View] but this didnt work
does anyone know how to fix this?
I’m tempted not to reply because I added the page in our docs that lists our database schema… it is there :)
the page is alphamalesmoti.com/blog
Same for me I cannot get the drop down menu for shipping countries… This was working perfectly in 3.6.10…
I sent you en email yesteday by the way, Dan.
I am wondering if this problem of selecting countries from the menu is not linked with the new feature called target markets. Is this function documented somewhere ? I just have the possibility to select all as an option is this normal ?
Many thanks
Hi, I have a theme I purchased that uses a lavalight menu which has some javain it. When I activate my shop, the menu does not show the rollover images on my menu. Can you contact me and maybe take a look at the theme on your end? I want to go ahead and add on to my shop plugin with you cool addins but I really want to use it with my new theme. Thanks!
I figured it out… there’s a file named jquery.js in the js/ folder. When I rename or remove that file my theme works. Is that file critical to anything? Will my shop work without it? Thanks!
Carol,
I’m trying to install this plugin using a theme that has some lavalight menues like yours. I was wondering if you have run into any problems by deleting that file?..please let me know. i would really appreciate any information you can give.
Thanks!
The problem is, you guys, that if you have too many plugins installed, you may have MORE THAN ONE jquery.js file linked into your page. This can cause a conflict, especially if they are two different versions. COmmands that use this file will not know which file to look at!
Deleting one may be fine because the other version is still active. If you have 5 plug-ins that use jquery.js, for example… you only need one jquery.js file…. all five plugins can share the one file.
If a plugin or theme uses a common javascript file like jQuery, it is better to use the WordPress wp_enqueue_script hook to include the file bundled with WordPress as this ensures the javascript file is only loaded once. Is there any reason why WP e-Commerce doesn’t do this? Backward-compatibility?
http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_enqueue_script
I’ve upgraded and was editing my products and on edited products the categories are missing and the products no longer show up when clicking a category link in the sidebar. There is no place where I can reset the categories.
tried to upload the latest update into WP plugins. Keep getting this error:
______________
Unpacking the plugin package
Incompatible archive: PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature
Installation Failed
_________
How can I fix this?
Also, purchased the gold cart and am having errors with that activation.
Is there a change log for what was changed between 3.6.11 and 3.6.12. I would like to make the changes manually since I have made many changes myself that I (mistakenly) did not document.
What about the discount code problem? Discounts are taken off the full order amount (including shipping), instead of just the cost of the product. This is a huge problem! Now I have to cancel my discount codes until the issue is fixed
Hey there…
I tried to use the RSS link from the marketing page for facebook getshopped and I get the error below from the facebook interface:
Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘FacebookRestClientException’ with message ‘This method is deprecated’ in /var/www/instinct.co.nz/facebook/client/facebookapi_php5_restlib.php:1848 Stack trace: #0 /var/www/instinct.co.nz/facebook/client/facebookapi_php5_restlib.php(918): FacebookRestClient->call_method(’facebook.market…’, Array) #1 /var/www/instinct.co.nz/facebook/getshopped/market.php(53): FacebookRestClient->marketplace_createListing(0, true, Array) #2 {main} thrown in /var/www/instinct.co.nz/facebook/client/facebookapi_php5_restlib.php on line 1848
Interestingly the RSS loads fine in a browser window. Is this a facebook issue or a wp-ecommerce issue.
yeah my wp e-commerce facebook feature is not working at all either.
Hi guys,
I tried to install the package to test it out. Do I need the Gold Cart in order for it to work, I’d like to see how it all works first. The error is:
Warning: require(/home/michael/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-shopping-cart/languages/EN_en.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/michael/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-shopping-cart/wp-shopping-cart.php on line 82
Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/michael/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-shopping-cart/languages/EN_en.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/michael/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-shopping-cart/wp-shopping-cart.php on line 82
I am not this is the right place for this question but I am trying to find where I insert an affiliate code for the company I am using on the page that the customer is returned to after they have completed the sale using the shopping cart and paying via paypal.. ? this is the statement from the IT person at their firm ;
“The code needs to be placed on the page the customer is returned to after their Paypal purchase”
So from what I understand I need to find out what files they are in this shopping cart so I can insert the codes.. ?? Can anyone help me here…? This urgent so any help would be appreciated.
I’m having issues activating the plugin. I know this isn’t necessarily the right place for this question but the link from the Instinct page for the forum doesn’t work either. Anyways, when I click Activate, I get a 500 Internal Server Error. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling numerous times and even changing the folder name to “wp-shopping-cart” from “wp-e-commerce” since that’s what all of these refer to and still doesn’t work. I’d love to get the store up but can’t even get past the first step! Any suggestions???
I found a tiny bug in WP e-Commerce 3.6.12, but I couldn’t figure out where to report bugs. I also have a fix for it!
If you use the [wpsc_category] shortcode twice on one page, it has a problem. The output for the second instance includes the output from the first instance. This is because the $output variable is not being reset, so the second set of output is appended to the first. In the file [homepage_products_functions.php] at line 84, I added the code …
$output = “”;
… and everything’s fine.
I found another tiny bug in WP e-Commerce 3.6.12 similar to this one, with a similar fix. If any product has a variation in the database, downloading a CSV produces the wrong variation information for products without variations. In the file [admin/ajax.php] at line 63, I added the code …
$variation_list = “”;
… and everything seems fine.
I am also getting error message:
SetExpressCheckout API call failed. Detailed Error Message: Security header is not validShort Error Message: Security errorError Code: 10002Error Severity Code: Error
Has anyone find any solution about that?
Any solution to this? Having same problem. Haven’t been able to get standard to work because the IPN isn’t working correctly.. except it’s configured correctly. So when users purchase a product, it’s not added ot their profile so they can download (only doing digital downloads).
SetExpressCheckout API call failed. Detailed Error Message: Security header is not validShort Error Message: Security errorError Code: 10002Error Severity Code: Error
That’s the error I’m getting now when I’m trying the PayPal Express Checkout
seems like the buggy faulty software doesnt get good support for those whom need it which is why i am not buying it until i see a change in support
When I do a search with the “List View” activated, it switchs out of list view and no longer goes back to it unless I delete cache/cookies/temp internet files. How can I fix it so it stays in List View always?
coral snake image,
Thank you for all of the effort on this blog
