3.6.10 RC4 – ready to rumble?

I’m pleased to annouce WP e-Commerce Final Release Candidate #4 before we upload WP e-Commerce 3.6.10 early next week. A vast number of private beta testers have been using RC2 and RC3 and thanks to there hard work and testing we think everything is ready.

Gold Cart users MUST upgrade using the download link from their original purchase receipt. If you have lost your purchase receipt…. you can try emailing us your transaction ID number but your best bet is the WP e-Commerce shop ;)

Here is a list of what we’ve done:

  1. UPS improvements (additional options added to admin screen)
  2. We changed the mysql database encoding to UTF General (same as WordPress) to handle all languages
  3. We scraped our own mailer script in favor for using the WordPress WP_Mail() function
  4. Search has been improved to search Custom Meta + Additional descriptions
  5. Fixed a bug with SWFuploader, now you can upload images with extensions that are in caps i.e. picture.JPG
  6. If no payment gateway is selected your site won’t break when you are testing – the default gateway is now manual payment / test gateway.
  7. Price Range Widget now sorts properly
  8. Admin “Screen Options” fixed (WordPress 2.7 feature)
  9. Product Variations now properly supports Stock (nice AJAX solution)
  10. Pagination bugs are fixed
  11. Sales Page UI has been tidied up
  12. Removal of unused files
  13. Default Plugin folder <code>/wp-shopping-cart/</code> changed to <code>/wp-e-commerce/</code>
  14. Zip code error message moved to under shipping options
  15. User Interface tweaks on add / edit product page
  16. Groups Widget UI has been overhauled
  17. Groups Page UI has been overhauled
  18. Register your details page has been fixed
  19. All admin pages fit in 1024 x 768 resolution
  20. Beta Alerts API has been included; when you have UPS switched on “and” a product with no weight then a red exclimation mark will apear next to the product name. This is because UPS does not support products without any weight.
  21. A number of small Google Checkout issues have been resolved
  22. The “Resend purchase receipt” has been fixed to work with WP 2.7
  23. Variations should be solid like a rock
  24. The odd Paypal tweak
  25. Removal of unused files (code cleanup begins)
  26. Admin UI tweaks (product groups page, edit products page and sales page)
  27. A new e-Commerce “Screen Option” is available in the WordPress 2.7 dashboard
  28. Tax options have been improved for USA sellers (thanks Jim)
  29. A number of unneeded SQL queries have removed
  30. Updated Chinese language file (thanks Anson)
  31. Updated Italian language file (Roberto)

Alternatively and if you’re felling geeky you can read the Trac Logs.

On that note please have a play and let us know what you think. Post your feedback and comments here (no feature requests please – I’ll delete them, all feature requests should be posted in the right post).

    Have you guys addressed the rampant DB calls for every product on every page with these set of fixes?

    We have addressed this. It now runs quite normally.

    That said we plan to overhaul all our DB calls in 3.7.

    Clean install of RC4 with WP 2.7.1
    In the Shipping settings, I can’t add layers to weight rates. Nothing happens when I click the Add Layer link, not even a JavaScript error.

    I take that back – there is a JS error clicking on the Add Layer link after all:
    Error: WPSC_DIR_NAME is not defined
    Source File: [domain.localhost]/blog/wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce/admin.js
    Line: 1001

    Hello,

    I have the gold cart upgrade, so what does this mean for me: Gold Cart users MUST upgrade using the download link from their original purchase receipt.”?

    When I use the link in my email, it seems that I download the very same file set as I did 3 weeks ago when I bought it.

    When I grab 3.6.10.rc4, am I supposed to download the gold cart files again, even though as I explained it seems they are the same?

    Please explain.

    Jeff

    Yup I’m also having troubles with my gold cart upgrade, my purchase receipt link takes me to your home page the url shows my download id but it displays only your home not download link anywhere.

    Please send me the right link so I can upgrade my Gold Cart if I use the one I have now it breaks my wordpress installation.
    Thanks

    @ Jeff & Dave, We just uploaded another new version of the Gold Cart files.

    @kchayka, Thanks for pointing that one out. We’ll fix this asap – probably tomorrow – if not we’ll do this on Monday morning.

    That said we have also just uploaded RC5 with a few more wee lil bugs patched. Hopefully kchayka’s bug is the last one people find and we can upload 3.6.10 on Monday (as opposed to another release candidate).

    FYI, it looks like Add Layer broke in between RC2 and RC3.

    It still takes me to your homepage, it’s there any other way I can upgrade my gold cart files, by e-mail maybe? , your response would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    So..when was this final release coming out? Early next week (was written feb 13)?

    Well..right now it’s the 23rd already and i’m getting tired of the all the errors, updates and not proper working wp-ecommerce installs. I appreciate the effort all you guys put into this, but come on, with every release there are a ton of things that apparently haven’t been tested thoroughly which results in another upgrade, say next month. The only thing i want and need is a good working wp-ecommerce, where variations work properly as well as the rest. I’ve been using this plugin for about 3 years now and i’m almost at the point of throwing it out the window.

    No release has ever worked straight out of the box, without any complications. And if something doesn’t work and we need help, we should BUY a “wp-ecommerce bible”? OR contact Shayne? Or go to a user generated forum? I’m glad Shayne has helped me numerous times for free and I’ve paid him a few times too, but this somehow doesn’t seem right.

    When you offer a product, there needs to be proper documentation and not in the form by a user generated forum, but more in the form of a “wp-ecommerce bible” in PDF format to COME ALONG with the download of the product. I even had to change hosts in order to use this ecommerce solutions because of the crazy amount of DB calls. It kept exceeding my php memory limit. After that hassle and my shop being offline or not properly working, my shop is finally up and running, and now I’m getting customers saying:”Sorry, your shop said it costs only €0,00″ When people have chosen a different size of shirt or a different color. And I have to email all those people: ” Yeah, sorry… after being advised to update my shoppingsystem, the variations don’t seem to work anymore” You know what customers say? We don’t care, your site displays the price , it takes me to the checkout page, it let’s me pay, so i’m fully entitled to receive this product. For christ sakes, PLEASE deliver us a FULLY functional wp-ecommerce, cause with this stuff happening for the last 3 years i’m at the point of giving up on this in someway wonderful plugin.

    3.6.10’s the best!!!
    Solid Release… well worth the wait… just one small thing missing…
    “Search has been improved to search Custom Meta + Additional descriptions”
    Having trouble searching beyond the product title…???… hopefully a minor fix… ;)

    It is still one code error in spanish script. In SP_sp.php file in the languages directory in lines 254 and 277. It’s the lack of an ‘ after the last word. For example, it says (’Ambos) and should be (’Ambos’). It makes the hole site crash. Correct both lines as follows:

    Line 254 is: define(’TXT_WPSC_BOTH’, utf8_encode(’Ambos));
    and should be: define(’TXT_WPSC_BOTH’, utf8_encode(’Ambos’));

    Line 277 is: define(’TXT_WPSC_YOURRATING’, utf8_encode(’Tu calificacion));
    and should be: Line 277 is: define(’TXT_WPSC_YOURRATING’, utf8_encode(’Tu calificacion’));
