Hey Team. We are slowing getting back into the groove of things. The end of 2008 got pretty heavy – we had a lot to do and then just as things got really busy a family member of mine passed away. So I’m sorry if not everything we promised to do got done.
So to get the ball rolling I have just added a new LinkedIn Group for the WordPress e-Commerce Plugin and would encourage you all to join it. It would be really nice to see you there.
I have also started more actively using Twitter – following danmilward on twitter will become a good way to follow our more daily movements (providing I’m around).
Allen is working on a new “Books” module for people wanting to sell books online. This module “specifically” handles the storage of author information + ISBN information plus a range of other information that specifically relates to the sale of books. This will be released as a new module as time permits.
On Monday NZT we will start work properly on the next release candidate for WP e-Commerce. The next release will include (but is not limited to) the following:
- Publish VS Non Published products
- WordPress 2.7 to handle AJAX
- Product Caching System (think Super Cache)
- Swap Beteen TinyMC & HTML mode
- WordPress Dashboard Widget
- A new and improved Downloadable Products manager
- Shipping Improvements
- Variations Improvements
- Template Engine
- Ability to add more additional information tabs
- Payment Gateway Class
I say more more more but I don’t want you to worry. We are only adding necessary and core features – our focus from here on in is to build modules and not add bloated features.

This dev program is huge.
Just a suggestion for this instinct’s news blog site… Add “recent posts” in the single page right sidebar. It avoid to go back to home page to read again the recent posts menu.
Michel.
“Shipping Improvements” – Does that mean we’ll finally be able to charge more for international shipping while still enabling table rate shipping?
