Search engine friendly e-Commerce.
I’m proud to announce an improvement to the WP e-Commerce core. WP e-Commerce now utilizes / integrates with your WordPress permalink structure.
These are the two basic types of WordPress permalinks:
Default: “Ugly”
The default looks like:
http://shop.com/?page_id=3&product_id=1
mod_rewrite: “Pretty Permalinks”
According to the WordPress wiki these are the holy grail of permalinks. There are many different possible formats, but the most common, and most versatile look like this:
http://shop.com/product-name
The first is traditional and old fashioned. The later which we now use is not just a thing of beauty – by optimizing every product page with permalinks your online catalog will be more usable, forwards-compatible, meaning greater search engine rankings and ultimately more incoming prospects & buyers to your website.

I applaud that! I’ve just thrown in custome URL structure:
/%category%/%postname%/
…and it seems to have worked a treat. Got my first wp-ecommerce site ready to go live imminently, this will be a MASSIVE help – thank you :) Recommend also using All-in-one-SEO plugin for rewriting search friendly page titles x
Mine rewrites the URL correctly, but it 404’s when going to the pretty URL.
