display-log line 15 still has wp_purchase_logs hard coded. so it won’t work if you’ve changed the table prefix.
Replace wp_ with “.$table_prefix.” (including the quotes!)
I was excited by this project, but…
The creative commons license you’ve chosen specifically states non-commercial
>You may not exercise any of the rights granted to You in Section 3 above in any manner that is primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or private monetary compensation.>
Shops are commercial enterprises.
Also the rights are expressly granted in Section 3 and retains all rights not expressly granted. The rights expressly granted not do not relate to software use in any way. So under the license I am only allowed to install and test the software for personal use and not actually deploy it anywhere.
Lastly I’d encourage you to support the community that could grow up around your product. They’d not only help develop and debug the plugin, they’d promote it as well. looking at it now,
currently it looks like while the source code is open the rights are overly restrictive, especially for a plugin to a GPL blog platform.
Would wordpress have grown so quickly and feature rich with a license like this?
Wow that was a fast update on the license! Well done.
My last comment reads harsher than I intended. I am certainly not on a GPL mission.
Rather I had intended to politely point out that the license terms were contradictory. While most users won’t bother understanding the terms of their licenses, we should still get it right.
Thanks for revising your license terms to clarify it. This is one of the most exciting WP plugins!
You’ve done better than some carts out there, the plugin comes with the source code. This is important as it allows us to see what our carts are up to.
Regards
hey there. the plugin looks great. here are two questions i have about it:
1) on the the products page, the list of categories at the top take up a bunch of room on the page, so the actual products don’t even start until almost the bottom. how would i go about putting those categories into a dropdown menu, with the products starting immediately below? that way, more products are immediately visible, instead of making customers to scroll to see them.
2) i don’t know if this is possible, but i’m trying to add paypal options to each of the products. like, i don’t want to have to list a different product for each size of t-shirt that i sell. is that even possible without messing up the entire plugin?
thanks a lot!
The plugin is made very well, but it has some minor bugs,
especially when used with paypal and sandbox (developer zone) ;
* the URL you enter in the plugin configuration, dosnt seem to be work very well
* the IPN event never occurs under this circumstances
for everyone who DOES NOT get an IPN event, try doing the IPN Script testing
with BUY NOW buttons. If they work correctly, you can also do it with other scripts.
If someone has a FIX for this issues, i would be happy.
have fun =)
Hello Everyone,
I’ve installed the plugin on my site BUT the only thing I cannot for the life of me figure out the correct link to replace with the sandbox.paypal.com link. Will someone please show me an example of what the/ a correct link should look like? I’m having a severe blond moment over here. Help please!
Thanks!
Yes me too please :)
the IPN (instant payment notification) does NOT work. The payment itself,
in the sandbox mode, DOES work. But strangely, the app does NOT let post
IPN to your script.
so WHAT is the correct URL to use?
can post it here??
thanks =)
This looks like it would be perfect for my needs but I am having troubles…
I am having the same problem that gregg described when creating new categories. I recieve:
WordPress database error: [Field 'order' doesn't have a default value]
INSERT INTO `wp_product_categories` ( `id` , `name` , `description`, `image`, `fee` , `active` )VALUES (”, ‘clothes’, ”, ”, ’0′, ’1′)
Has anyone identified a fix for this problem?
Thnx..
Goddess: I was having the same trouble and after hours of messing with it, this simple link worked for me:
https://www.paypal.com/xclick
It then runs into another problem is the total amount has more than (the normal) two decimal places e.g. ” … mydomain.com/checkout?total=27.952928 ” That’s my next challenge. But if I make the tax and price work out so it’s just two decimal places then it works great!
For the email address, use your PayPal email account (address).
I really hope I can get this working correctly because it just looks like a beautiful plugin! Thanks so much everyone–especially Instinct–for any help here!

Hi Everybody. We’ll look into your PayPal issues asap – its the weekend here in New Zealand so please be patient. If you want to try out our latest beta version (at your own risk) it may resolve your problems.
wp shop e-commerce 2.5 beta
to prevent further confusion,
actually the paypal IS WORKING. the only thing that does NOT work,
is the IPN (instant payment notify) system that SHOULD work.
Why not collect all data, redirect it to a PHP and then submit it with
> tag ? that would ensure of a correct post (at least a full correct one).
The current Cart post’s the data using sockets. Any Idea’s ?
GOTCHAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahah :)
i found the bug =)
line 24 on the paypal multiple PHP and line 17 paypal php
//$data['notify_url'] = $transact_url;
just comment the line, and you got IPN working for the URL, you’ve setup
in your PAYPAL Account.
the reason is, that if you specify a notify_url, you OVERRIDE the settings
in the paypal account. I hope this helps the community.
:)
Thanks Likoma,
That did the trick, now I have to configure my paypal acct so it doesn’t add shipping costs.
Great script guys! What’s new in Beta 2.5?
When i push BYT botton it adds te product to the shopping cart, no problem, but it does not continue, i get the java error in IE6:
Line: 328
Character: 3
Error: ‘document.getElementByld(…)’ is null or not a object
Code: 0
URL: http://www.maik.dk/?page_id=4
Thanks again for a great plugin!!

Just updated 2.5 beta.
Unfortunately, it did not resolve my problem with updating categories.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thnx.
Getting warning errors, and not even on the cart pages.
I installed e-commerece and after several attempts finally got it up and running:
http://www.esimonsen.com/products-page/
However, when I go to http://www.esimonsen.com/photos/index.php I now have errors relating to my e-commerece, and just one for plogger, which I dont get if e-commerce is not activated. I receive the same errors whether I have permalinks set to defualt or custom
Can someone please help me get rid of these errors. After spending all day getting rid of other various errors associated with e-commerce, I would hate to have to get rid of the whole plugin all together. Thanks for any help
Thanks for a great plugin! One issue I have is that the set Currency Type (Netherlands euro) is showing up OK in the procedure, untill going to the paypal page, where on the bill it shows in US$.
Also, when saving the currency type in the admin panel, after submitting, the ‘Currency Sign Location’ switches back to $, although the Currency Type setting still is Netherlands Euro.
Any idea?
You can see the shop in action on http://www.johnzielman.com/products-page/
Thanks!
Error Message:
WordPress database error: [Field ‘order’ doesn’t have a default value]
INSERT INTO `wp_product_categories` ( `id` , `name` , `description`, `image`, `fee` , `active` )VALUES (‘’, ‘clothes’, ‘’, ‘’, ‘0′, ‘1′)
Fix:
Change mysql from restrictive mode to default which can be done via the my.ini
Great tool…
I have installed the plugin and everything works correctly until I click “Make Payment” on the Checkout page. At which time, I get an Error 404 – Page Not Found.
It is not finding the enter-details page. That page does exist. It is confusing that it is not being found.
Any suggestions. Thanks for the help.
Great plugin!
Hey All,
I just installed 2.5 beta on another site. Got a question….
1. Is there anyway to NOT have a photo slot anywhere within the cart? I don’t want to add pics and I really don’t want a blank square sitting there. HELP!
Also, the “Paypal Multi Item Support” isn’t working for me. When I add multiple items to my cart and go to check out… the amount and shipping are blank. It’s as if I’m sending a donation. Other than that, the plugin works GREAT for me ! :) If anyone has any suggestions as to removing the photos and multi item support function, please post.
Many thanks Guys
I’m working with the new 2.5 Beta and so far so good. But I can’t get this to work:
“Ability to sell downloadable products”
I upload a file (e.g. PDF, MP3 etc.), and I see it (something) gets uploaded, but then I don’t know how the buyer gets access to that file.
Thanks again for all of your help.
– Bradley
Hullo, I just psyched myself up to come here and pay the support donation fee, but I guess I misread how much it cost—I thought it said $15 but when I came here today I see it’s $50 instead!
So… how much support would I get for $15? Heh! Failing that, how much is the Gold option and does that come with support?
I love this plugin so far but have a few problems getting it up and running and can’t find any info on it anywhere, except here, but nothing regarding my questions, specifically, getting my “empty cart” link to work, as well as formatting problems.
For instance, the text I had worked fine as a page until I put it into the product description. Then the list (ul li) added extra line breaks to each line and I just need to know where it does that so I can comment it out.
Thanks very much for what should be a great plugin when I get it working properly.
The “empty cart” link on the product page isn’t working… the text is there, but no linkable URL. I think I’ve narrowed it down to line 1526 of wp-shopping-cart.php
$output .= “<a href=’”.get_option(‘product_list_url’).$seperator.”category=”.$_GET['category'].”&cart=empty’ onclick=’emptycart();return false;’>Empty your cart</a><br />”;
Forgive me if I didn’t format this statement correctly.
So how would I make this link work correctly? I’ve checked it over and over again and it does seem to look right, but it’s not pulling up a linkable URL. Or maybe it’s something else I’m totally overlooking.
Just to let you know, the download links aren’t working for any of the versions…
It’s saying that the account has been suspended.
Hello Friends, its me, Banana1.. (lost password & etc.)
anyone having currently problems with IPN (sandbox) ?
ive again some trouble receiving no email. i thought
i ask someone if they have any.
Dan: did you receive the script i’ve sent you?
maybe I am the one who has some problems (email??)?
why not setup a forum for this plugin? would be cool… (and easy:)
have fun!:)
by the way, as i previously sayed,
there WAS a bug in wp-eCommerce lite, i just wanted to quote it again so
here is it:
line 24 on the paypal multiple PHP and line 17 paypal php
//$data[’notify_url’] = $transact_url;
just comment the line, and you got IPN working for the URL, you’ve setup
in your PAYPAL Account.
the reason is, that if you specify a notify_url, you OVERRIDE the settings
in the paypal account. I hope this helps the community.
bye:)
This is how I got the paypal thing to work. In the wp-shopping-cart/merchants/paypal.php file, add the following line:
$data['cmd'] = “_xclick”;
e.g.
// shopping cart variables
$data['cmd'] = “_xclick”;
$data['item_name'] = ‘products’;
$data['amount'] = $_SESSION['nzshpcrt_totalprice'];
$data['quantity'] = ’1′;
$data['item_number'] = ’1′;
$data['shipping'] = ’0′;
$data['handling'] = ”;
$data['tax'] = ”;
$data['custom'] = ”;
$data['invoice'] = $sessionid;
As the paypal url, put the standard https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr
Thanks very much for the plugin. You can see my hacked-to-death version running at http://tentmaker.org.uk
If somebody wants to setup a forum for us then that would be great, much appreciated and all that. The truth is we’re too busy creating the plugin itself…
:)

Dan: there is a nasty bug in the cart system. If you could solve it, would be cool:)
I’ve been wrestling with this plugin for a while trying to get everything working properly. I’ve working acceptably now, but there are a few niggly problems still.
1) Postage – it only lets me input whole numbers (i.e. £2, not £2.25). Not a massive problems but it means I have to either round up or down so the buyer has to pay more or I lose postage money.
2) The Shopping Cart – it breaks the page horribly when I try and put it in the sidebar. When it is left where it is, it shows up behind the products whenever you put anything in the cart, which looks bad and you can’t read it. I’ve ended up just putting a manual link at the top of the products page that lets the buyer see the shopping cart. This works but when you add products to the cart you get a loading/updating message appear next to the categories, which looks messy in Firefox and is just a red X in IE. Again it’s not a massive problem but it doesn’t look very professional.
3) Currency – I just installed 2.65 hoping it would fix this but it hasn’t. I would prefer to use GBP but PayPal converts it to USD when you come to pay. I tried the multiple item support option but the buyer then has to manually enter in what they are buying and how much it costs (meaning mistakes might be made). I’ve got around it by converting all my prices into USD, but that might get confusing for people as the shop is based in the UK and I have to keep checking the currency conversions!
4) Purchase Log/Reports – This is a bit strange – when I get the purchase report sent to me it has my name and address details, regardless of what ever address has been entered. It also doesn’t show up on the PayPal notice. All the information is in the Purchase Log in the admin area, but it would just be handier if it was in the Purchase Report email too. Also, how do I clear the purchase log? There are various test runs I’ve done that I don’t need it to show.
5) Transaction results page – is there a way I can change what it says? There is a spelling mistake!
I think that’s everything and it all makes sense. OK so none of it is the end of the world and I can still use the shop but if anyone can help solve these issues before it is properly launched I’d be really grateful! You can see it here: http://www.faenation.com/shop/products-page
Quick question: It is possible to extend / add to the check out pages to capture additional information? Right now you have a limited amount of info, and I would like to capture some additional columns. Is that hard to set up / do?
THANKS

If you need any help in French localization for this plugin, I would be happy to help. I usually work with the French WP translation team so I’m familiar with pot editing. Do not hesitate to contact me.
Anyhow, congratulations for this plugin which saved me a lot of time. I was working on a similar solution but found yours as I was struggling and I must admit it is much better than what I intended to do. Thanks for your good work :)
wiiiiiiiiuuuuuuuooooooo the translation thing will rock!!
it has external text support so translation will be easy!:)
the new beta totally rocks. i think wp e-commerce will rool the e-commerce
scene:D
Hi, thanx for this great plugin, I use the newest version since today.
My only problem is that I can’t show my animated gif-graphics in the products-page. Is there a way to use it?
Thanx for reply.
ACK! I have no GD on my server, and the host won’t install. They only provide ImageMagick. Please tell me what I can do to make this work with the thumbnails?
Thank you!!
It’s fine if I have to hard code thumbnails, just tell me what I need to put in the database (full URL, relative url, etc.) Sorry, I can’t seem to edit my previous comment. :)
I don’t mind uploading the images manually until you can provide native ImageMagick support!
Thanks for an awesome plugin!
Hi,
I’m trying your plugin as an alternative to Mal’s E-Commerce. I’m unable to get images to display. I upload the image but it doesn’t seem to get saved. I have full write permission to the default directory for uploading images to WordPress.
Actually it would make a lot more sense to be able to have a link to an image as an option, because I already have the images online.
Another thing I really need is to take taxes for only one specific US state. I don’t know if that’s even remotely possible.
But the images are the most important thing — I don’t know what the deal is with them.
